CONCHAGUA VOLCANO HIKE

Travel through a rural, tree-lined Balastreado road and view the petroglyphs of Yologual, stones with images of monkeys, before reaching the protected area to start your hike to the Conchagua Volcano. Conchagua towers over the Gulf of Fonseca, part of the Pacific Ocean bordering El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua. Conchagua Volcano stands at a whopping elevation of 1,225 meters (4,019 ft) above sea level. On your way, you’ll encounter colorful butterflies, small mammals, and a variety of birds before arriving at the viewpoint from where you can see the mountains and the islands off the coasts of El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua.

Kayak the beautiful Jiquilisco Bay in Usulutan and see home to over 80 species of migratory birds, a wide variety of sea turtles, and other marine wildlife. The bay is over 150,000 acres making it the largest estuary in Central America. Located on the southeastern Pacific coast of El Salvador, Jiquilisco boasts the largest mangrove forest in the whole country.

TURTLE RELEASE

Support the conservation of the sea turtle in the Wild East and release, in the company of experts, one of the most traveled species in the area: The Olive Ridley Turtle.
For the year 2021, the Local Economic Development Association (ADEL La Unión) established the goal of collecting 85,000 turtle eggs in the three hatcheries near Oriente Salvaje, and with your help, they can be adopted and released.

COFFEE TOUR

Enjoy a walk through the coffee trails, in which you will take a tour of the coffee harvest (in season), the plot, and wet and dry processing. In addition to general information about quality control and the importance of a cupping laboratory, you will have a coffee tasting, which includes a cup of coffee and bread made by artisans of the community. If you have an adventurous spirit, you will have the opportunity to visit the San Fernando waterfall located a few meters from the hill.
